These days parents get their kids far too much stuff. When we say “stuff” we really mean it too, because the more stuff they get the less significant it becomes to them; and stuff is really all it becomes. Kids toys are all over the place these days and you could quite easily spend a small fortune getting them everything they want, see on the TV or in a catalogue.
The consequences
The consequences of buying kids toys all the time is that you can quite quickly end up with an empty bank account and a very ungrateful, spoilt child that you’d much rather not spend time with. No-one wants to feel this way about their own child, so teaching them not to expect things all the time is very important indeed. Once you teach your child that there is more to life than receiving treats all the time you’ll begin modelling them into the type of person people will be pleased to be acquainted with as they get older.
The value of money
Very few children actually know the value of money; this comes with age and teaching. So the problem lays with the quantity of kids toys they get. This is a big problem because you don’t even have to have a lot of money these days to get your hands on lots of kids toys. Even families who aren’t very well off at all can actually afford to buy kids toys every day from the second hand shop for example.
This send the wrong message to children, and whether they come from rich or poor families, once they start getting used to getting things all the time it becomes dreadfully difficult to stop; being spoilt is an addiction and it’s cruel to fuel it.
When to buy kids toys
You should really only buy kids toys when it’s a birthday, Christmas, or a very special treat. Your child will appreciate things so much more if this is the frequency they receive kids toys. There is absolutely no reason to keep spending money and giving your child toys all the time; you’re barely giving them enough time to play with what they have already!
